Marian

I have often been harassed on public transport. I have been called names, insulted, threatened as well as physically assaulted. One time, in the lift at a metro station, a Finnish woman spat on me, insulted me and finally attacked me. I don’t want to blame the bystanders: it can often be scary to intervene in a threatening situation. But there are other ways of defending people, apart from raising fists and using angry words; sometimes it’s enough to chat with the victim. And if the situation looks too threatening, you can always call the emergency number. In those amazing moments when I’ve got help, I’ve felt like I wasn’t completely alone.
